The Latest... for real this time

Well, we've been at Primary's since Monday running more tests.  Dakota's symptoms did check out to be like Kawasaki's again (but we're not sure still).  His attending physician says that he still isn't comfortable with treating Dakota for it.  We've met with the infectious disease doctors and ran a hundred tests for them (all of them being negative).  We did an echocardiogram today which is essentially an ultrasound of the heart to measure size and function.  The main fear with Kawasaki's disease is that this constant inflammation and Kawasaki's nature of destroying the capillaries in the body, would affect the heart, mainly the coronary arteries, and possibly cause aneurysms, and in the worst cases, heart attacks.  Everything there checked out.  In fact, they said that his heart was in better shape (meaning less inflamed) when they compared it to the one they did two weeks ago.  So what now?  We're meeting with the rheumatology doctors tomorrow morning to see if we need to be leaning towards something more chronic like JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis) --formally known as Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.  Hopefully, we'll be home again tomorrow afternoonish and all of these wacky symptoms will go away.  It is still pretty unsettling when you're working with some of the top pediatricians in the country.... and you still can't come up with a diagnosis.  Where's doctor House when you need him?  Meanwhile, the doctors and nurses here are awesome with Dakota.  This stay hasn't been 1/2 as traumatic as last time for any of us... possibly because we knew what we were getting ourselves into.  Thanks Mom, Dad, and Les for taking such good care of my baby girl.  I've been able to invest all of my energies into getting Koda cared for because I know she's in good hands.  All in all, we're doing good and hoping for a speedy and uneventful recovery for our Koda bear.  Bye for now.
